Does the installation of grab bars require certain skills?

Yes, grab bars and hinged arm supports, flip-up grab bars, and swinging supports all should be installed by professionals.

Where are "ADA" showers used?

ADA showers are used for commercial applications.

What are the differences in ADA showers and Barrier Free showers?

ADA laws do not apply to private residences. An ADA shower for roll-in use must have a clear inside opening of 60" x 30" with a maximum lip at entry of 1/2" in order to have a 60" wide inside opening. ADA showers are usually 63" wide outside dimensions or larger.

Barrier Free showers are very suitable for residential use and many sizes and styles are available for remodeling and new construction. They will generally fit into a standard 60" bathtub opening

Do I need a multiple piece shower to get into an existing room?

Generally speaking, yes. Widths and heights of doors and halls will usually necessitate a multi-piece unit.

Are the shower bottoms slippery when wet?

Shower bottoms have a textured finish to minimize slipping.

Are showers readily available?

Showers are not stock items, but are made upon order and currently takes 12-16 days to arrive at your door.

How do I tell a multi-piece shower from the model number?

The multi-piece model numbers will begin with either a 3, 4, 5, or 7 which represents the number of pieces in that model.

How much is shipping for the showers?

One piece showers generally cost more to ship than the multi-piece ones. We have to get accurate shipping quotes at the time of order.

Are color pieces available?

Yes. There is no up-charge for white ranges, i.e.: white, bone, biscuit, or almond. There is an up-charge for other colors with the lighter shades being cheaper than the darker shades.

What accessory items do I need for showers?

If you are purchasing a roll-in shower, you may need the following: lever handle valve, hand shower and hose, glide bar, grab bars, rubber water retainer, shower rod and curtain or barrier free trackless doors, shower drain.

If you are purchasing a transfer shower you may need in addition to the above a fold-up shower seat.

Can I purchase just the pan for the shower?

Yes. We have approximately eighteen different ones.

Can I purchase a shower for roll-in that doesn't have to be recessed into the floor?

Yes, we have the threshold from 1/2" up to 2 1/4" in the ADA/Barrier Free lines.

How can I help keep water from coming out of the shower?

Since water containment is always an issue with the shallow pan roll-in showers, we recommend the following: rubber water retainer, weighted shower curtains, and/or barrier free trackless shower doors.

What is an Assisted Living shower?

An Assisted Living shower generally has a curb to step over from 4" to 6" high.

Where should the shower valve be placed in the shower?

This would be a personal preference, but we recommend the valve/hand shower in a location that can be readily reached from the shower bench or chair. Most often it would be on the rear wall of the shower.

How can I add color to dress up a white shower?

The easiest way is with colored grab bars and curtain rods with curtains.

Will I need special unloading equipment to get the shower package off the delivery truck?

If a loading dock is not available we generally ship on a truck that has a power lift gate.

How will I know when the unit is to be delivered?

We generally call with a tracking number and the freight company's phone number as soon as the unit is placed on the delivery truck, so you can track the unit to your location.
